Pain management is crucial to wellbeing!

Thanks to modern medicine our pets are living longer these days and living with conditions they may not have survived in the past. Drs. Paul and Kara Schubert believe that with these advances we also have a responsibility to make sure our companions are not just living longer but also better quality lives.

We strive to stay up to date with the latest advances in pain management. Modern veterinary medicine has shown that untreated pain impedes the recovery process in sick or injured patients, and reduces quality of life. Signs of pain can include:

  • Withdrawl
  • Lethargy
  • Increased Vocalization
  • Irritability or Aggression
  • Resistance to handling
  • Reduced food and water intake

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Besides traditional methods of pain management such as oral and injectable medications and nutritional supplements, cold laser therapy has been used for decades in human medicine. Now the Montville Animal Hospital is pleased to be offering laser therapy to help with pain and inflammation for our patients!

Laser treatment can be used in dogs, cats, and even exotic pets! It employs deep-penetrating light to promote a chain of chemical reactions known as photobiostimulation. This process helps relieve pain through the release of endorphins, and it stimulates injured cells to heal at an accelerated pace. It is painless and takes only minutes while your pet rests comfortably with you.

The length and number of sessions required may vary based on your pets condition. So please give us a call if you feel your companion may benefit from this service to discuss treatment options.
